A weather warning for ice has been issued for parts of Wales from Wednesday evening, with temperatures expected to drop below freezing.

The Met Office issued the yellow warning from 17:00 GMT until 18:00 GMT on Thursday for 12 local authority areas in Wales.

The forecaster warned of possible slips and falls with icy patches on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.

Transport could also be affected, the Met Office said.

It added there could be snow showers on higher ground.

On Monday, the Snowdon Mountain Railway - in Welsh, Rheilffordd yr Wyddfa - tweeted that very chilly temperatures were already evident on Wales' highest peak.
